The County Council of Gävleborg
- the centre of Sweden
Gävleborg County lies on the centre of Sweden's east coast and stretches quite a long way inwards. You are just a few hours by car from the mountains in the north or the pulsating capital of Stockholm in the south.
Gävleborg is about two-thirds the size of Belgium. There are 276,000 inhabitants living in an area of more than 19,000 square metres. Gävleborg is not crowded by any means!
Gästrikland and Hälsingland
The County Council stretches across two counties, Gästrikland and Hälsingland. The area features historical landmarks, cultural traditions, beautiful natural settings, countless lakes and adventure. The region's oldest town, Gävle, lies on the coast in the southernmost part of Gästrikland.
